Digital Acoustic Control Systems for NASA
m+p international inc. has recently been awarded a contract to provide NASA Plumbrook in Ohio with their Digital Acoustic Control Systems (DACS). m+p along with their partners Benham Engineering and Aiolos will be building, commissioning and controlling the most powerful acoustic chamber in the world, the Reverberant Acoustic Test Facility (RATF).
The RATF will be configured with 23 servohydraulic modulators and 13 electromagnetic modulators all controlled with the m+p DACS. Up to 24 control/measurement microphones are also supported. The DACS based on VTI Instruments VXI hardware will be controlled remotely via a fiber optic LAN.
NASA Plumbrook is scheduled to start the testing of the Constellation's Orion in 2013. Delivery of the facility is planned for spring of 2011.
