1. m+p CODA MONITORS LIFTING OF JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE’S OTIS |
The James Webb Space Telescope is one of the most exciting science projects at present. NASA recently used an m+p Coda software system to monitor the critical lifting and mating of the Optical Telescope Element and Integrated Science Instrument Module (OTIS) for the James Webb Space Telescope to its vibration test fixture. The monitoring system was based on 20-channel analog/digital converter m+p VibRunner measurement hardware with externally summed force sensors. The scope of the operation was to minimize the stress on the OTIS while moving it into position and to monitor vertical and shear static forces. |

2. SAFE VIBRATION AND ACOUSTIC TESTING USING DATA REDUCTION |
NASA finished the second axis vibration testing on the James Webb Space Telescope using our 280-channel m+p VibRunner based m+p VibControl data reduction system. Specially for this project we added abort limit testing on the data reduction channels. Twice that abort limit testing detected anomalies during the vibration testing and shut down the control system, preventing damaging the 4 billion dollars spacecraft. m+p’s data reduction and Acoustic control systems were also used for the acoustic testing of the science payload. The test was successful without any abort. 3. STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS SOFTWARE |
Did you know that the structural dynamics package of the m+p Analyzer provides a complete set of tools for observing, analyzing and documenting the vibrational behavior of machines and mechanical structures? Different software modules cover a wide range of techniques including impact testing, shaker measurements (SIMO and MIMO), experimental and operational modal analysis, ground vibration testing, swept and stepped sine analysis and modal model validation. The software makes it very simple to create the structure‘s geometry and calculate modal parameters including mode shape animation. Read more >> |
